The Chronomat began as a watch for the Italian aerobatic team Frecce Tricolori and became the model that carried Breitling through the years following the quartz crisis.
The evolution of the Chronomat
In 1942 the Chronomat name first appeared on a chronograph with a slide rule. It returned in 1984 in an entirely new form.
The new version was developed in collaboration with the Frecce Tricolori: a rider bezel with four markers, a substantial case and the articulated rouleaux bracelet.
Through the 1990s and 2000s the line expanded with gold executions, date, GMT and full-calendar variants.
In 2020 Breitling introduced the Chronomat B01 42, which combines the rouleaux bracelet and rider bezel in slimmer proportions with the in-house calibre.
