Black Bay

The return of the tool watch

The Black Bay distils sixty years of Tudor dive watches into a single reference: a domed crystal, Snowflake hands and a bezel colour that narrates the model's history.

History

The evolution of the Black Bay

In 2012 Tudor presented the Heritage Black Bay with a burgundy bezel, domed dial and the Snowflake hands of the 1970s.

The blue version followed in 2014, the black in 2015. All three variants initially ran on a modified ETA movement.

In 2016 the Black Bay gained the in-house calibre MT5602, with 70 hours of power reserve and COSC certification, identifiable by the rose-free signature.

The line grew to include the Black Bay GMT with Pepsi bezel, the Black Bay Chrono, the Fifty-Eight at 39 mm, and executions in bronze, gold and silver.

Collector's perspective

What to look for when buying

  1. 01

Early references with ETA movement and rose signature are sought after by collectors and stand apart from later series.

  2. 02

The Fifty-Eight at 39 mm is the most liquid variant and enjoys steady demand.

  3. 03

Fabric and leather straps belong to the delivery scope; a complete set is a clear advantage on resale.
